Galway Churches

After dinner one evening in Galway city, we decided to explore some of the fabulous cathedrals there. The first stop was right down the next street. St. Nicholas -- a church built in the 1300's

When we stepped inside, we could smell the lovely distinctive scent which this old church possessed. It is very close to the smell of a room filled with old books.

The walk to the main cathedral was substantially longer. Fortunately, it was a beautiful walk -- right past the Canal. The green dome in the picture below is the top of the famous Galway Cathedral.

I'm so glad we took the time to visit these beautiful cathedrals.
